The Anagama Kiln with Julie Devers

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday January 12

12:00 PM  –  1:00 PM

Are you familiar with the unique Kirk Newman Art School Anagama kiln? It is a wood fire kiln measuring more than 40 feet in length! This process dates back to the early fifth century, and you will find these kilns a rarity not only in our region, but also the nation. Join Julie Devers, Kirk Newman Art School Ceramics Instructor since 2001 and owner of Newgrange Pottery, as she explains the process and the aesthetic of wood firing. Devers will present historical context and celebrate the KNAS ceramics program, not to mention the Anagama kiln’s 20th anniversary.
