12:00 PM  –  1:00 PM

Have you ever wanted to see a microscopic object up close? Kalamazoo photographer Mark Cassino will share his twenty years experience with the art and science of snowflake photography. Illustrated with dozens of photographs, Cassino will discuss the development for making high magnification photographs of snowflakes using ordinary photographic equipment. Interesting aspects of individual snowflakes will also be discussed. Cassino's snowflake photos have been widely displayed and published internationally. His children’s book, The Story of Snow: The Science of Winter’s Wonder, published in 2009, was named an Outstanding Science Trade Book by the National Science Teachers Association and received a Blue Ribbon award from the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books.
