A studio is not a place. It’s a way of seeing. In this location-based lighting course, we’ll explore how to transform ordinary spaces into compelling photographic environments using a small, affordable flash setup—what I call a “studio in a bag.” Working on location—inside the KIA, downtown streets, and outdoor spaces—we’ll learn how to: introduce artificial light into natural environments, sculpt subjects using small manual flash units, control contrast and direction and blend flash with ambient light for cinematic results. This class emphasizes creative control, adaptability, and practical problem-solving. You’ll learn how to walk into almost any environment and shape light to match your vision. No studio required.

Prerequisite: A manual flash unit and radio trigger specific to your camera
