Emmy Kastner

Emmy Kastner is an author/illustrator of children’s books, including A Very Big Fall and the Nerdy Babies series. She is a former high school teacher and co-founder of the youth writing center Read and Write Kalamazoo. Kastner is excited to bring a discussion of picture books as an art form to ARTbreak, celebrating art and words working in tandem to tell a story. Bringing her joy and enthusiasm for children’s literature, she will break down the basics of the form, share exemplary classic, modern and contemporary favorites, and provide a glimpse of her creative process. She will cap things off by leading attendees in a short hands-on creative exploration.
