Conceptual Realism

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday September 6

12:00 PM  –  1:00 PM

Douglas Dykehouse will show his paintings and discuss Conceptual Realism, a term used in philosophy and in art to describe how reality is perceived. It’s also a label for a conscious or unconscious approach to painting. Dykehouse’s career as a fine art and commercial art instructor influences what he creates. His painting Obsession, from the KIA’s permanent collection, is included in this year’s exhibition Surrealish: The Absurd and Unexpected. Two of Dykehouse’s paintings are also in this year’s West Michigan Area Show. Locally, Dykehouse’s paintings have received several awards and he was juried into the KIA’s West Michigan Area Show 14 previous times.
