Artful Evening: Movement in the Museum
Movement in the Museum returns this January as company members from Wellspring offer an interpretive exploration of Statement Pieces! During this program, dancers will respond to the exhibition with improvisational movement inspired by the ways in which clothing moves and shapes the body, offering freedom or restriction.
Kalamazoo holds the unique distinction of being home to one of the nation’s longest-standing, small professional modern dance companies. Since its founding in 1981, Wellspring has introduced thousands to the art of dance, has enriched the Kalamazoo arts community through collaborations with professional artists, and has become a platform for advancing postmodern dance choreography.
Please be advised that this program involves standing and walking; gallery stools will be available. Attendance will be limited for this program, so register early to reserve your spot!
Statement Pieces is organized in conjunction with Barrett Barrera Projects. Made possible by generous support from Diane & Randy Eberts and Heritage Community of Kalamazoo.
