ARTbreak: Richard Mayhew: Spiritual Landscapes

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday June 6

12:00 PM  –  1:00 PM

During this ARTbreak, we will screen the short film Richard Mayhew: Spiritual Landscapes. Created by Linda Freeman and David Irving, the film explores the work of painter Richard Mayhew, whose 1974 painting Mohawk Hills is currently on view in the Unveiling American Genius exhibition.

From the film’s creators:

“Richard Mayhew paints landscapes. These images have taken root within the the artist’s inner spirit and are expressed through oil paint on canvas and watercolor on paper. The landscapes never depict a specific place, but capture a poetic feeling about the land.

“Are they abstracts? Are they impressions? Are they expressions? Are they landscapes? Only you the viewer, in concert with the artist, can say for sure.”

Please note that Sam Grossman’s ARTbreak talk on Gordon Parks, originally scheduled for June 6, has been rescheduled for September 12.
